Terms of use
Version 1.0 — in force 24 August 2026
Who we are and what this is
The Gas Hub Ltd provides software for gas engineers: tightness test records, landlord gas safety records (CP12), service records, warning notices, breakdown records, invoices, quotes, and an assistant called Ask the Hub.
These terms are a contract between us and you. By using the app you accept them. If you don't accept them, don't use it.
This app is a tool for recording and calculating. It is not a substitute for your training, your judgement, your Gas Safe registration, or the manufacturer's instructions.
Who can use it
You must be Gas Safe registered, or working lawfully under someone who is, to use this app to produce gas safety records. You are responsible for making sure the work you record is work you are competent and qualified to carry out.
What you are responsible for
You remain fully responsible for the gas work itself and every judgement you make about it; for checking every figure and reading before you sign a record; for following the current standards, the manufacturer's instructions and the law; for what you tell your customers; and for the accuracy of everything you type in.
We do not carry out gas work, inspect anything, or certify anything. You do. Your name and registration number go on the record, not ours.
The calculators and the standards
Our calculations are built from published industry standards, including IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4 for tightness testing and purging, and we verify them against official sources.
You must still check the result against the standard. If a figure the app gives you doesn't match what the standard or the manufacturer says, the standard and the manufacturer win, every time. Tell us and we'll investigate immediately.
Standards change. If you keep using an out-of-date version of the app after we've told you to update, that's on you.
Ask the Hub — the assistant
What it is: a tool that answers questions about the trade, powered by an AI model. It can search the web for current standards and fault codes.
What it is not: it is not a gas engineer, not a qualified person, not an authority, and not a substitute for the manufacturer's instructions or the current standard. It does not sign anything off.
You accept that AI can be wrong, including confidently wrong; that you must verify anything safety-critical before acting on it; that you must never rely on it alone for a figure, a clearance, a pressure, a gas rate, a part number, or a decision about whether something is safe; and that if it conflicts with the manufacturer's instructions or the standard, they win.
Don't type personal information into it — no customer names, addresses or contact details. It doesn't need them.
We keep a record of questions and answers, so you can look back at what you were told and so there's evidence if advice is ever disputed. Only you can read your own history.
There is a monthly limit on questions, stated in the app. We may change the limit, the model behind it, or withdraw the assistant, with notice.
Your data, and your customers' data
You own your records. We store them for you and use them for nothing else. We do not sell data, we do not advertise, and we do not use your records or your customers' records to train AI models.
Where you store your customers' personal information in the app, you are the data controller and we are your processor. Our processor commitments are set out in the privacy policy and satisfy UK GDPR Article 28.
You can export your records at any time. If you close your account we delete your data, except where the law requires us to keep something.
Paying for it
Free trial. Every plan starts with 7 days free. We take your card details when you sign up but we don't charge anything during the trial. If you cancel before the 7 days are up you pay nothing. If you don't cancel, the subscription starts automatically at the price shown when you signed up, and renews from then on.
Prices are as stated in the app. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time and keep access to the end of the period you've paid for. We don't refund part-months, except where the law requires it or where we've got something wrong.
If you're buying as a consumer rather than for a business, you have a 14-day right to cancel; by asking us to start straight away you accept that this right ends once we've given you access. In practice: if you ask for your money back within 14 days, we'll give it to you.
We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice. If you don't like the new price, cancel before it takes effect.
Keeping it running
We work hard to keep the app available and your records safe, including nightly backups. But we don't promise it will never be down, never have a fault, or work on every device. Some of it needs an internet connection; the assistant always does.
Keep your own copies of anything you must retain by law. The export button is there for exactly that.
Where we stand on liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Everything below is read subject to this paragraph.
Subject to that, and because this is a low-cost tool sold to professionals who remain responsible for their own work: we are not liable for business losses — lost profit, lost work, lost contracts, lost goodwill, or loss caused by data you didn't back up; we are not liable for loss caused by you relying on the app instead of your own professional judgement, the manufacturer's instructions or the current standard; and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.
We think that's fair: the price is a few pounds a month, you're a professional being paid for the job, and you keep control of every decision that matters. Nothing here affects your statutory rights.
Using it properly
Don't use the app to record work that wasn't done. Don't share your login. Don't try to break, copy or resell the software. Don't use it to produce a record you aren't qualified to issue.
Falsifying a gas safety record is a criminal matter, not just a breach of these terms. If we see clear evidence of it we will close the account, and we will cooperate with Gas Safe Register, the HSE and the police where the law requires it.
Ending it
You can stop using the app whenever you like. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or with 30 days' notice for any other reason — and if we do that without you being at fault, we'll refund what you've paid for time you haven't had.
Export your records before you go. After deletion we cannot get them back.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For anything significant we'll give 30 days' notice in the app or by email. Carrying on using the app after that means you accept the new version.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
